for more informationWe will be traveling with Educational Opportunities. They have been helping pilgrims travel to the Holy Land for over forty years. You will find many helpful resources on their web site.
You may be especially interested in the information about safety and security when traveling in Israel and that part of the world. Also, you'll want to have a sense for the climate there. Of course, there are variations within the land of Israel itself, but you may mind this summary helpful. Finally, once our tour is full, we'll begin to provide some classes and resources to help all of us prepare for this pilgrimage. Updates will be found on this site. |

preparationsSummer
Each week during the summer, our Sunday morning bulletins featured inserts to help you become more acquainted with the land and prepare for the trip. A Journey Through Time -- Israel's History and Geography On a series of three Wednesday nights, Pastor David led a class to provide an overview of the biblical story in terms of the stage on which that story is set -- i.e., the Holy Land. We saw the topography, the geography, the Old Testament history, the New Testament history, the history of what has happened in that land since the end of the New Testament era, and a brief introduction to the city of Jerusalem. You may see video recordings of those classes here. Reading the Bible with a Map: A Practicum As another preparation for our journey, Pastor David offered an unusual group experience early in 2015. We read selected sections of the Bible together with a map. This process was designed to help us prepare us for our pilgrimage to the land of the Bible. |
Other q&AHow do we get to New York?
The advertised price for our trip is from and back to New York City, but obviously we need to get there somehow. Educational Opportunities will make the arrangements and reservations for you to fly to and from New York using the airport of your choosing, and we have several good options available to us. Of the 13 people registered for our trip at this moment, nine have arranged to fly out of and back to Green Bay. Two are using Milwaukee. And two are using Chicago O'Hare. Whatever you choose, it's important to make your arrangements through Educational Opportunities, for then you'll have their assistance every step of the way. What about the travel insurance? You can purchase travel insurance for this trip, and given the size of the investment, it is probably a good idea. As with many kinds of insurance, you hope don't have to use it, and then in a sense the money is wasted. But consider it a way to purchase a little peace of mind, protecting your investment against the unforeseen. Is there a minimum number of people for us to make the trip? No. Even if no one else signed up, we will go with the group that we've got and have an excellent time together! Is there a maximum number of people who can make the trip? As I have indicated in our Counting Down and Adding Up page, I would hesitate to split our group between two tour buses. Accordingly, my sense of "maximum" is 45 people. FAQs Educational Opportunities anticipates the most frequently asked questions by folks who are traveling with them. You can find those questions and their answers here. |
