We are offering two different short-term classes to help folks prepare for our upcoming trip. The first was called "A Journey Through Time," which endeavored to offer a quick summary of the story of the land of Israel over time. The second will be called "Reading the Bible with a Map." More on that later.
Below you will find the video-recordings from the three sessions of "A Journey Through Time."
Below you will find the video-recordings from the three sessions of "A Journey Through Time."
- December 3rd -- "Israel in the Biblical Story"
- December 10th -- "Israel Between the Biblical and Modern Eras"
- December 17th -- "Israel in the Modern Era and Jerusalem"
A Journey Through Time
The first session was held on Wednesday, December 3rd, and it featured an overview of the land during Bible times. The first video from that session includes some general introductory material. The second video, which unfortunately was cut off before the class ended, includes the biblical story in terms of the land of Israel.
The second session was held on Wednesday, December 10th, and it featured an overview of the story of the land from the end of the biblical era to the beginning of the modern era (which, for our purposes, we are defining as World War I).
The third session was held on Wednesday, December 17th. We turned our attention to the modern era history of the land, from the end of the Ottoman Empire to the present-day boundaries. We also offered a brief survey of the history, geography, and composition of Jerusalem.
